Tryouts will now take place in August and will be three days instead of four:
August 4th: 6:30-8:30 pm in the main gym
August 5th: 6:30-8:30 pm in the main gym
August 6th: FINAL TRYOUT DAY (with judges) 6:30 to approx. 9 pm
Attire does not matter for the 4th and 5th; you should wear a plain white shirt, black shorts, and white bow (not required for yell leader candidates) with white cheerleading shoes on the 6th (final tryout day). Gear should NOT have any BV logo on the final day even if you were a part of the program in previous years.
Material (fight song, cheer, and dance) will be sent out a week prior to tryouts on July 28th to the email addresses you provided in the interest form in March. The tryout clinic days will be spent perfecting the material, clarifying any questions, and demonstrating the tryout process.
If you have not filled out the interest form from March, here is the link again. You do not have to fill it out twice unless you have entered an email address incorrectly.
IMPORTANT UPDATE ON PHYSICALS:
You must have your physical dated after May 1, 2020 to participate in athletics. There is a new form from the KSHSAA website. I have attached it below as well. All this paperwork must be together in order to try out. We will communicate when you are allowed to bring the paperwork into the school.
COMMUNICATION PRIOR TO TRYOUTS:
We will be using the platform, BAND, as our "GroupMe" to communicate with the athletes leading up to tryouts. This is required for all candidates to be a part of, but parents are also welcome. You can download the app or have it on your computer browser. Here is the link:
BAND link: https://band.us/n/a7a63fc9d1Dce
As always, communication via email is the preferred method of individual circumstances and specific questions.
As previously mentioned, the workouts at the school are completely optional but are highly encouraged to stay in shape leading into the season especially now that we all have a later tryout date. This leads to July weights: due to KSHSAA rules, these will also be voluntary and will benefit the candidates in preparation for tryouts as well as stunting in the season. You do not have to have previous experience with lifting weights to attend! I highly recommend ALL candidates go to set a great foundation for all the athletic aspects of cheer in the fall. We will provide dates and times as they become solidified and will be communicated via Band and an email with more specific details since Band is for quick announcements.
As we get closer to August, we will continue to update you all on specific practice times, possible camp dates, possible choreography dates, games, and any other questions that come up.
We all know all plans are fluid during the pandemic, so we will keep you posted with dates and specifics as they come.
We look forward to seeing and hearing from you all soon!
Thank you for your patience and support!
